Critical Analysis of the Descent of Man by Charles Darwin

In the essay The Descent Of Man by Charles Darwin excerpted from his book The Origin Of Species (1871), he tries to describe evolution through the natural selection of accumulated favorable variations in an organism that in time form new species within which the fact that man is descended from a lower-organized life form is prescribed to, by giving evidence of similarities of the characters of man which determine embryonic development, bodily structure, sexual selection, cerebral system with those of lower-life forms and in which he evidently succeeds and it is evident that man is not a separate art of creation and is descended of a common progenitor like all other mammals and though questions can be raised against his theory in terms of†¦show more content†¦This, he did to prove the acquisition of certain characters by animals which could not be explained by the process of natural selection. It also happens to be, that the individuals of one sex are capable of feeling a preference for a certain individual of the opposite sex according to Darwin. When the above happens, like in the case of the argus pheasant where the females are attracted to the exotic shading of the ball-and-socket ornaments and designs on the wing feathers of the male, it is interesting to notice that the males especially flaunt their great plumes only during the mating season and preferably in the presence of his female counterpart/counterparts. The great plumes which prevent the wings from being used for flight, thus, can be traced to the fact that they were given to the male as an ornament. The Doctrine Of The Trinity - 1670 Words

Since the Nicene Council church patriarchs and theologians have toiled to communicate the principle of the Trinity as a doctrine in the Christian church. Our class readings from Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Karl Barth, and Elizabeth Tanner reveal the necessity for discussion about the trinity to evolve throughout the last 1500 years of Christian theology in order for the doctrine to be modernized to the lexical and social understanding of contemporary Christians. Although Augustine may be one of the Fathers of Trinitarian Theology, his fifth century Trinitarian theology has not progressed compatibly in regards to twenty-first century linguistics, rhetoric, and philosophy. In order to understand the limitations of Augustine’s doctrine of the trinities, we will study Augustine’s teachings lexically, allegorically, and relationally. Augustine’s work On the Trinity still remain a scholar source of Trinitarian theology. This is especially noteworthy since Augustine complete the work just decades after Trinitarian controversies began within the church. For this reason Augustine can be credited with documenting primary parts of Trinitarian doctrine. Included in these are regarding the coeternal and consubstantial three individual entities that are contained with one substance. Research shows that those students with no musical background have lower chances of graduating. Essentially, those students involved in music have lower chances of involvement in drug and alcohol abuse. This is because music provides an emotional outlet for anger and frustrations. Music can be used in learning counting and fractions in a fun way. Inherently, music builds the self-esteem and confidence of most students and hence providing them with the chance to excel academically. In conclusion, robbing students of the chance to access music in school translates to r obbing them the chance to excel academically and socially.
